What Is a Stroke?

Stroke is a medical emergency and the third leading cause of death in the U.S. It occurs when a blood vessel in the brain bursts or, more commonly, when a blockage develops. Without treatment, cells in the brain quickly begin to die. The result can be serious disability or death. If a loved one is having stroke symptoms, seek emergency medical attention without delay.

Few weeks ago, I promised to dwell extensively on the seven topmost sexual problems facing today‘s couples. We have been able to tackle two out of the seven. In the next few weeks, we shall be taking a closer look into premature ejaculation. Most of the e-mails I receive every week are full of the lamentations of those suffering from early ejaculation. Statements like, ‘I come too quickly and this is embarrassing to me,‘ ‘My wife left me because of premature ejaculation.‘ ‘Please, how best can you help me, I am suffering from premature ejaculation,‘ ‘Because of premature ejaculation, I have lost face with my wife,‘ ‘Is there any cure for premature ejaculation?‘ ‘Please what causes premature ejaculation, is there a way out? Do you know of any reliable drug that can save one from this big disgrace?‘

The interesting thing is that most men will experience some form of premature ejaculation at one point or the other. But only a few know this. Premature ejaculation is a serious concern to some men. For example, long period of abstinence may sometimes contribute to this condition, especially for new newly married men. The urge to ejaculate is stronger when you are not used to the sensation. In fact, it can be so overpowering. Age can also be a contributing factor; the younger you are, the more the testosterone (the male sex hormone) that runs fuller in your body. Too much of testosterone usually lifts the male libido, making the desire to ejaculate stronger. This makes controlling ejaculation more difficult.

Even though it is difficult to get an accurate definition of ejaculation, experience and studies have shown that what couples consider as satisfactory lengths of intercourse vary. What some consider as adequate may be inadequate for others. Dr Jeffrey Noble of the Urologic Institute, Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA, describes the condition succinctly and concisely. According to him, it is the ”occurrence of ejaculation prior to the wishes of both sexual partners.”

He says further, ”Premature ejaculation is believed to be a psychological problem and does not represent any known lesions in the brain or nervous system. The organ systems directly affected by premature ejaculation include the male reproductive tract (i.e., penis, prostate, seminal vessels, testicles, and their appendages), the portions of the central and peripheral nervous system controlling the male reproductive tract, and the reproductive organ systems of the sexual partner (for the purpose of this discussion, the partner is assumed to be female) that may not be stimulated sufficiently to achieve orgasm”.

However, it is widely seen as the inability of a man to control when he ejaculates or his inability to delay it at will. If you ejaculate before your partner and wishes to last longer without much success, you may be having premature ejaculation because your body has not learned how to handle high sexual arousal without ejaculating.

Between 30 and 40 percent of men are believed to be suffering from the frustrating condition called premature or rapid ejaculation. The good news is that it can be successfully treated.

Studies have also shown that this condition remains largely untreated due to a number of factors including hesitancy of both husband and wife to discuss the issue with each other and lack of awareness of treatment options. However, what a lot of men who have this condition do not know is that with the right approach, they can easily change the response of their bodies to high arousal. You can learn how to thrust your penis into a warm or wet vagina for as long as you want before you ejaculate. Then, when you want to ejaculate, you simply step up the pace and intensity of your vaginal thrusting so that you go ”over the edge” when it suits you. The other thing that men with these conditions need to know is that it is not a thing of shame. This is so because it is a common problem among men.

At the 2006 Congress of the European Society for Sexual Medicine, an American research paper reported that the average lasting time of men with premature ejaculation is 1.8 minutes. Men without this condition, which we may sometimes ignorantly refer to as ‘normal‘ men, lasts an average of 7.3 minutes. In their survey of several thousand males, approximately 10 percent of them said that they often or sometimes had this trouble. They found that it is more common in younger married men-which are not surprising, as there is a distinct tendency for ejaculation to improve with age. Men generally get better control as they grow older.

However, a 2004 survey in Europe showed that many middle-aged spouses still had this problem. But there were males who claimed to have premature ejaculation, yet who could last up to 25 minutes. This clearly shows people have wildly differing ideas about what is normal. From clinical experience, many couples regard intercourse that lasts under 20 minutes as less than satisfactory, and feel that any ejaculation in less than 10 minutes or so is decidedly premature. As a working definition, if either you or your partner feels that orgasm is happening too soon, then there is probably some degree of premature ejaculation, according to these groups of experts.

While most of the things known about premature ejaculation are myths rooted in ignorance, the frustration and fear that many men experience as a result of premature ejaculation are real. In most cases premature ejaculation does matter, because it makes people unhappy and frustrated. And in severe cases, it threatens or even ruins marriages. Sometimes, the condition is so bad that the man ejaculates even before getting into the vagina. This can be devastating for a man‘s self-confidence. And it can be hugely frustrating and annoying for his spouse - especially, if she is young and desirous of the unique pleasure that only intercourse can give.

How a New Process Lets You Control Your Appetite Without Cravings
How a New Process Lets You Control Your Appetite Without Cravings

If you're like most Americans you've probably tried a few approaches to weight loss - and without much lasting success.

The problem, according to experts is the combination of our sedentary lifestyle and our strong tendency to overeat.

Most of us spend 8 to 9 hours a day, 5 days a week sitting at our desks, plus more time sitting on our daily commute. And exercise is apparently of little help when it comes to dropping pounds. Even though Americans spend $19 billion dollars a year on gym memberships, and most of us say we exercise regularly, two-thirds of the population is still overweight or obese by government standards. Something just doesn't add up.

Overeating seems to be the main problem. To lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you consume and unless you're following a strict diet, it's very difficult to "work off" the excess amount of calories that most of us take in. For instance, for a 140 lb. woman to burn off the calories in a bagel with cream cheese, she would have to jog for an hour. And that's just breakfast.

That hasn't left people with too many effective options. You can rely on willpower and ration your food intake, turn to fat blockers that have embarrassing side effects, or worse, use dubious stimulants that could put your health at risk for the sake of losing weight.

So, is there a solution to this dilemma?

Apparently a new California Company called Sensa may just have one. They have just launched a remarkable new product that has been shown to control the appetite and convince the brain to stop overeating.

Sensa was developed by Dr. Alan Hirsch, an intrepid doctor and neuro-scientist, whose lifelong specialty has been to study how our senses, and in particular, smell and taste affect the brain's functioning. Dr. Hirsch's breakthrough occurred when he discovered that many of his patients who had lost their sense of smell and taste due to illness or accident experienced rapid weight gain. He recognized that certain smells and tastes seemed to be acting on the brain to control the appetite.

Dr Hirsch studied hundreds of compounds and after years of research developed a set of virtually odorless and tasteless food sprinkles that showed a strong impact on the body's appetite-control center, which he called "Tastants". Then, in one of the largest studies of a non-prescription weight-loss system, these Tastants were tested for effectiveness as a means of weight loss.

The results were significant. Over a 6 month period, 1,436 women and men sprinkled flavorless "Tastant" crystals on everything they ate, and lost an average of 30.5 pounds - nearly 15% of their total body weight.

Participants achieved these results without having to follow any special exercise regime or diet.

Best of all, because it is tasteless and odorless and contains no stimulants and does not directly interact with the digestive system, there are no unpleasant side-effects. According to Dr Hirsch, "With Sensa, you can eat all the foods that satisfy your senses and you don't have to deal with any intense food cravings or feelings of starvation. Sensa merely helps you eat less of the foods you love and gain greater satisfaction from smaller portions.

As for walking vs. running: Both improve insulin sensitivity, which helps your body use glucose efficiently. But in a study, walking improved pancreatic function more than running did for a group of middle-aged, overweight, sedentary folks with high cholesterol. Why? Researchers suspect moderate-intensity exercise ramps up fat burning more than vigorous-intensity exercise & that could explain the results.

Controlling Diabetes

As a diabetics we all know about the need to control our diabetes. The reality is that most people are just too lazy to do so. It is all about self-displine, will power & desire. Perhaps I was lucky that I waS diagnosed as an adult with many years of martial arts behind me as part of my life. I had the self-discipline, the will power along with the desire to control my own life. Not everyone has this sort of background and to my thinking it is unfortunate. Playing organized sports, being in martial arts, dancing, gymnastics, etc., any n& all of these activities help to develop these characteristics in an individual. It is easy to apply these characteristics to your life within the parameters of the diabetic lifestyle.

Controlling starts with getting your BG levels down so your Hemoglobin A1-c tests show you to be between 5.85 & 6.25. Pushing away from the table be3fore you feel full is another exercise that helps. Increasing your physical activity levels is critical to good health, a lower HgA1-c, keeping neuropthy at bay, etc. Eating then walking 10-20 mins briskly can make your BG levels be lowered by 12%-35% making it a great habit to begin & keep!

When you eat out, you can begin by avoiding appetizers, ask for sweet potato fries if you have to have, fries. Since almost eateries have oil & vinegar readily available use that as your dressing on a salad, substitute fruit for desserts burt above all do it....! DO NOT just talk about it. Push yourself to your limits, Set goals to achieve in your weight & BG levels. If can walk across the room but must sit to rest before going out of the room then puch yourself to walk 5t more steps & rest while standing & leaing against the doorframe or wall. If you can walk 1/4 mile increase it by 10 yards every 3 days until you can walk a mile. Join a diabetes support group! Be as physicalyl & mentally active as you can. Eat healthy snacks bewteen meals to satve off & avoid that hypo-glycemic feeling in the mid-morning, mid-afternoon, etc. Be a devoted diabetic....devoted to your health, yourself & to making sure that YOU control your diabetes.
